Qlik for Legal Services
UK Legal Services benefit from Qlik’s Business Discovery platform
Qlik, a leader in Business Discovery user-driven Business Intelligence has today announced a series of agreements with UK law firms for the deployment of its innovative QlikView Business Discovery platform.
Qlik and its partners have provided in excess of 3,000 user licences to UK law firms and have seen significant growth within the Legal space within the past 9 months including deployments with major practices such as Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Berwin Leighton Paisner, Reynolds Porter Chamberlain, Olswang, Dundas & Wilson, Barlow Lyde & Gilbert, Silverbeck Rymer, Tods Murray and Winckworth Sherwood amongst others.
Qlik reports that the creation of applications offering intuitive user-driven data analysis, focused on providing efficient and cost effective client management have been the primary goals for most law firms. Partners and associates operate in a highly regulated environment, which places time pressure on them to manage both their client work load as well as financial and general administration.
By deploying Qlik, law firms are able to create a support infrastructure that enables law staff and partners to view, analyse and interact with data and monitor their financial performance more effectively. The information is presented instantly through Qlik’s unique and highly intuitive dashboard, enabling managing partners to review performance and identify trends at the macro level and then to drill down through the data to understand cause and effect by client, by fee earner, by practice area and any other metric for which they hold information.
The Qlik application provides each user with information via a single view with a variety of graphical representations to ensure they are meeting their Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and also the ability, at a top level, to see how they compare with peers on each KPI that is measured, such as profitability.
Qlik’s adaptability is also highlighted in the number of applications developed to understand client profitability. According to Qlik, for some law firms, simply creating a consolidated client list can require them to call in their IT provider for help. Taking the step forward to understanding the profitability of clients, types of work and industry sectors, for example, previously presented a major challenge. Qlik enables senior partners to ask these questions themselves, and receive instant and easily understood answers.
Deep Dasgupta, Lead Strategy Analyst for Freshfields comments, the Qlik dashboard is part of a continued project for our management team and key business users to quickly and easily view and interact with company data across the entire business.
Another Qlik application that has been attracting significant attention is focused on conflict management; a vital requirement for any law firm before they are able to take on a new client. The process of eliminating potential conflicts of interest has previously been a time consuming and costly task. By creating a Qlik application to address the process, firms can now carry out the majority of the conflict management processes in a few moments and for a fraction of the previous cost.
Sean Farrington, Former VP & MD QlikTech UK, comments: Together with our partners, we have been achieving significant success in the legal sector. Our QlikView solution is providing increased accountability and a strong return on investment. It is also leading what many managing partners see as a culture change within law firms; a desire not just to modernise certain working practices, such as administration but to actually leapfrog other professional services by adopting the most innovative and intuitive solutions.
