To help address many of the interoperability and sharing challenges healthcare customers face, Box acquired MedXT, a pioneer in cloud-based medical image viewing, sharing and collaboration to facilitate the storage of X-rays, MRIs and CT Scans securely. On behalf of Box, we are pleased to announce MedXT service is fully integrated into Box’s HIPAA compliant platform to help better serve healthcare customers. This new feature, the Box DICOM Viewer, is now available in beta and allows users to store, view and share any DICOM file (like X-rays, MRIs, CT Scans, ultrasounds) in Box.
With the Box DICOM Viewer, users can view DICOM images from the web or any mobile device, securely collaborate and share DICOM images across care teams or facilities, remotely diagnose and improve turnaround times, and extend images to patients or out-of-network providers. The Box DICOM Proxy, an on-premise applications that uploads encryption-protected DICOM data directly from a PACS to Box, is also available as an optional application for use with the Box DICOM Viewer.
Leading healthcare organizations like Cedars Sinai Medical Center, Midland Memorial Hospital and drchrono, are currently beta testing the Box DICOM Viewer to help bridge the gap between diagnostic imaging equipment, radiologists, and the people who they ultimately share imaging data with.

Scrypt, Inc.
Scrypt offers Sfax, a fully HIPAA compliant cloud faxing service that enables users to send, receive, annotate, digitally sign and manage faxes without printing a single physical document. Paper-based fax pages are often misplaced and are at a higher risk of compromising privacy. Emailing protected documents with health information (PHI) in them pose a significant security risk if corporate email is unencrypted and not HIPAA compliant. However, 75% of healthcare workflow today still relies on faxing. Unlike manual faxing, fax servers or lower-grade services, Sfax enables users to send and receive unlimited faxes in the cloud while remaining HIPAA compliant end-to-end. The Sfax integration with Box allows healthcare providers to securely fax PHI directly into and out of their Box account. This allows providers and staff to move from an archaic fax-based workflow into a fully HIPAA compliant digital workflow, leveraging the Box platform.

EDCO Health Information Solutions offers a medical record scanning and indexing software that maximizes efficiency and improves document capture for hospitals. Many hospitals still have paper in their patient medical records, including consent forms and documentation from outside the hospital facility that is either faxed in or mailed over. In fact, a typical 100-bed hospital scans an average of 1 million document images a year. For larger scale health systems, the number of scanned images can exceed 4 million a year. Of the types of documents that still exist in paper form, approximately half are required for patient care at the time they are created or presented by the patient. EDCO provides solutions to scan paper-based medical records to be viewed in an electronic health record (EHR) system. With the Box integration, EDCO provides a way to capture and index the automation of paper-based medical records and leverages the Box platform for native document and image storage, retrieval and sharing.
