What is Harmony for Qlik?

For many years, Qlik has built its platform on APIs that deliver the capabilities and functionality that Qlik has today. For example, Qlik Sense and Qlik Sense SaaS are ‘front ends’ built upon Qlik’s APIs. As Qlik evolves, its customers mature, or new OEM partners sign-up, the volume and complexity of capability increases. Especially as clients’ individual Qlik footprints increase. By way of Tenants and Servers as well as Products, or simply due to volume of adoption. Qlik offers its product APIs under three general headings: Embed, Extend, Manage (source qlik.dev).

Why the increased need for you to Manage, and what does it mean?

Qlik has morphed to a capacity pricing model, and this created increased need for greater control over the actions of Qlik users, especially on Cloud. Being able to offer greater management capability of users, processes, and tasks is what Cyferd Harmony for Qlik can offer, including audit.

Key features of Harmony for Qlik

Assemble Data

Collect data via APIs from your entire Qlik estate.
For example:

• Objects (Apps, Templates, other Objects, Files and Automations) – from all Qlik locations (tenants and servers).
• Users
• Spaces & Tenants

Enhanced Functionality

Create (Compose) capability, for example, to centrally manage reloads across the entire estate.
DevOps lifecycle management; Qlik OEM, move hydrated apps between tenants, and more.

Self Service

Use RBAC to offer the ability for users to control their own app reloads, with rules applied.
For Example: 60% of apps might be scheduled to reload on a periodic basis. 40% of the apps would be set to manual reload. You might want to restrict the frequency of these reloads either for a period, to help control costs, or for other purposes. Additional reloads can easily be subject to automated approvals processing.

Compliance

Interrogate Qlik Cloud Personal Spaces’ Metadata to understand levels of activity, and monitor use of unsanctioned behaviour. Such as personal or shared data connections or data files e.g. XLSX

Control & Audit

From a control and audit perspective, it is important that all corporate IT/Data/DevOps and AIOps procedures are complied with, and as such, controls are put in place to monitor, measure, and manage behaviour. This also helps with attaining quality standards and relevant ISOs etc.

Manage Qlik Users

Qlik users will own many of the assets on a Qlik estate. It is important to have life-cycle management of Qlik users’ access controls for when a Qlik user changes roles or leaves an organisation; this includes ownership of assets during their life cycle, from onboarding to off-boarding Qlik users. Cyferd Harmony for Qlik can help to manage, integrate, and deliver processes that cover these areas; this is simple to achieve using standard functionality in the Cyferd Platform. Off-boarding plans can also be created that reassign all connections, apps, and access to the next person in the Qlik role.

Third Party APIs

The Harmony for Qlik application based solution can be used to manage third party (to Qlik) APIs. This provides a distinct value add under the management or Manage umbrella. Fully integrate with Qlik extensions, such as Inphinity and ancoreSoft. As well as other technology platforms including Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. This will deliver further operational efficiency, quality, and more accurate and timely insight.
