What is holding you back from migrating to Qlik Cloud?

Knowing where you want to be is a start for any objective. Identifying and balancing the resources to migrate to Qlik’s cloud platform that can really help make a difference is not without its challenges. In the forms of:

Investment required –

Unless the objective is to migrate at the point of contract term renewal then a creative way to help avoid doubling up on costs is needed. We recognise this, and are here to help.

Tools Needed –

Reporting, Planning, and Management tools are needed and have inertia to change attached to them. Such as existing reporting tools that deliver business critical reports, such as NPrinting. A specific challenge and concern for Qlik users is that NPrinting is not available in cloud – this needs addressing. Qlik reporting services may suffice for some clients, but not all-given the vast capability of NPrinting. Qlik has a set of migration planning tools (apps) to highlight challenges. These are a great head-start.

Planning Your Migration –

You will need a plan to measure success, define outcomes, and report against milestones of benefits realised. This will require some work to muster stakeholders to understand the benefits that come from cloud; Financial and Operational, including self service. You will need a champion and project manager to ensure that all activities are resourced and not blocked.

Resources & Expertise Required for Your Migration –

Deliver it yourself v Deliver with a partner. You may do this once, your partner many times. You need to balance the option of in-house (with resource constraints) and with a partner, an expert that had delivered many migrations already.

Timing of your Qlik Cloud Migration –

Given that migrations can take up to three years to deliver for enterprise customers then a hybrid world of co-existence can easily become business as usual for the short term. This will need to be agreed up front with your suppliers to ensure a seamless transition. Smaller Qlik Cloud migration projects can be delivered in just a few weeks or months. The primary blocker is often the need to migrate reports onto a new technology before retiring on-premise solutions. Pretty much everything else can be handled with Qlik’s tools and creative use of the Qlik Cloud platform architecture.

In Qlik Cloud ancoreShare connects with Qlik automation services for a seamless experience. Being cloud ready means performance is also much enhanced.

Harmony for Qlik – Provide a means to manage your Qlik footprint/estate. This includes both on prem and cloud as you migrate, and for ongoing operations. Using the Harmony’s Qlik Management Platform (QMP) KPIs, you can: monitor, measure, and manage the status of your migration. Harmony for Qlik includes embedded issue tracking and backlog (Kanban/’Trello’) capability. Further, these may call Qlik Automations, or those of other platforms such as Microsoft’s Power Automate Having these capabilities creates better use of your monthly capacity usage and package adoption.
